The Unified Sports Basketball Team is getting ready for their Staff/Student Game on November 15th. Unified Sports is a program designed to increase inclusion in the school community by breaking down barriers that have historically separated individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the playing field. Unlike the Special Olympics, Unified athletes and their peers compete side by side in varsity athletic competition. The Special Olympics has recognized MHS as a National Banner School. All elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and colleges in the country are eligible for this honor, and only 200 have been selected. We currently compete against local high schools in basketball, bocce, and track & field. We are also one of the only high schools in the state to offer unified courses during the school day. We currently have students enrolled in co-taught Unified PE, Music, and Art courses. Mansfield is the gold standard for how Unified programs should be run and we want to recognize the following people: Basketball-Dave Rosa, Chris Fong, Kerri McCluskey Bocce-Chris Hall, Kerri McCluskey Track and Field-Melanie Collins, Kerri McCluskey Good luck to everyone!

Athletics is having a Winter “2024-2025” sign-up meeting for all winter sports the night of Oct 23 at 7:30pm in the Auditorium. After a quick informational meeting with the athletic director and school nurses, teams will split up and go over: practices times, game times if available, and expectations for each team. I really hope everyone can make it on Oct 23rd th at 7:30pm in the MHS Auditorium.
** One Parent or Guardian is required to attend this meeting to play a Winter sport** All Athletes are also encouraged to come
10/7 Mansfield vs Sharon Golf match has be postponed due to rain and poor course conditions.
9/27 - Mansfield Football takes on Marshfield at 7:00pm on Alumni Field. We will recognize honorary captain, David Barrack, a 1st grade student at the Robinson School who suffers from a rare genetic disorder known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Purchase tickets here:

Superintendent Murphy attended the Hockomock League Fall Sports Captains Conference today and facilitated a workshop with student athletes called "Superintendents & Servant Leadership".
Ms. Murphy spoke to students about her perspective on how captains can lead their schools and influence positive culture in their school and community. There were breakout sessions, discussions, and a share-out about best practices.
Superintendents Derek Folan of Canton and Lucas Giguere for Franklin also participated.
